Vision
To build an effective and sustainable partnership between Sohag University and the General Authority for Adult Education and Literacy to eradicate illiteracy—a key societal issue in Sohag Governorate—reflecting the University’s commitment to its role in the community.
Mission
To enhance communication and strengthen the relationship between Sohag University and the General Authority for Adult Education and Literacy in order to eradicate illiteracy in Sohag Governorate through effective programs and communication channels.

Unit Objectives
- The Adult Education Unit at Faculty of Education, Sohag University—with the participation of the Faculty’s students—aims to:
- Contribute to eradicating illiteracy in Sohag Governorate.
- Assist adults in addressing the social, familial, and professional issues affecting them.
- Provide opportunities for continuous education and training that foster social cohesion, equality, and active citizenship, in alignment with the concept of lifelong learning.
- Meet the needs of illiterate adults by organizing classes focused on literacy in reading, as well as cultural, political, and technological literacy.
- Encourage adults to engage with the knowledge society by providing them with diverse educational programs and the necessary support services to help eradicate illiteracy within their families and care for their children and relatives

Responsibilities of the Adult Education Unit:
- Establishing a database of students and the classes opened.
- Disseminating announcements to students via notice boards or the faculty website.
- Responding to student inquiries and assisting in resolving any issues they encounter.
- Coordinating with the General Authority for Adult Education and Literacy by providing student data.
- Organizing introductory and awareness-raising seminars for students regarding the role of the General Authority for Adult Education and Literacy.
- Conducting training courses and workshops for students at Faculty of Education to equip them with the skills to work with illiterate individuals, including training on the fundamentals of Arabic and arithmetic, class organization, and examination procedures.
