Unit Overview

The Strategic Planning Unit is a component of the administrative structure of Faculty of Education at Sohag University. It was established to formulate the Faculty’s strategic plan and monitor its implementation, provide support for short- and long-term strategic planning processes, define the Faculty’s vision, mission, and objectives, and assist in decision-making within the Faculty. Additionally, the Unit aims to foster a culture of strategic thinking among all the staff members and stakeholders and enhance their strategic planning skills through an analysis of the Faculty’s internal and external environments The Strategic Planning Unit is a component of the administrative structure of the Faculty of Education at Sohag University. Unit Vision and Mission

Vision

To establish strategic planning processes as the standard approach for managing and developing the Faculty of Education at Sohag University, thereby ensuring its excellence and enhancing its standing and competitiveness at both local and regional levels.

To prepare, develop, and monitor the Faculty’s strategic plan in light of local, regional, and international developments; to embed a culture of strategic planning; and to monitor and evaluate performance across the Faculty. These efforts aim to realize the Faculty’s aspirations in education, scientific research, and community service aligned with its adopted standards and values to enhance its competitiveness and achieve strategic excellence at all levels.

Organizational Structure

Unit Objectives

  • To foster a culture of strategic thinking and planning, and to raise awareness among all the staff across all departments and administrative units regarding the importance of strategic planning and its role in performance enhancement.
  •  To formulate short- and long-term strategic plans for the faculty through the engagement of all stakeholders, ensuring alignment with the faculty’s vision, mission, and strategic goals.
  •  To analyze the faculty’s internal and external environments, identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT analysis).
  •  To formulate the faculty’s vision, mission, and primary objectives within a clear value framework, while proposing mechanisms for their implementation
  •  Reviewing the faculty’s vision, mission, and objectives, and reformulating them whenever necessary.
  •  Monitoring the implementation of the faculty’s strategic plan in alignment with the University’s strategic plan, and reviewing and updating it as needed in light of developments both within and outside the faculty.
  • Developing distinguished cadres including the staff members, their assistants  who possess strategic planning capabilities and skills.
  • Contributing to the development of the faculty’s resources and providing technical support for their effective management.
  • Contributing to the evaluation of the educational and research processes, as well as the community services provided by the faculty

  • Monitoring and evaluating the faculty’s  strategic performance and making necessary adjustments based on the results of such monitoring and evaluation.
  •  Coordinating with relevant internal and external entities to ensure the achievement of the faculty strategic goals.
  •  Participating in the development of information systems and databases required to support the faculty’s  strategic planning process

Unit Functions

  • Promoting a culture of strategic thinking and planning among all the staff across all departments and administrative units.
  •  Preparing the faculty’s  strategic plan, participating in its implementation, and measuring performance indicators and completion rates in coordination with the various academic and administrative departments.
  •  Overseeing the preparation and implementation of continuous improvement and development plans for all faculty departments, administrative units, and sub-units, and conducting ongoing reviews of these plans.
  • Defining strategic goals for the faculty and its various units.
  • Ensuring the alignment of the faculty strategic goals and objectives with those of the University.
  •  Overseeing the review and updating of the faculty’  vision, mission, values, objectives, and strategic and operational plans, in light of the University’s plans for developing education, learning, scientific research, and community service, and in a manner consistent with contemporary requirements and labor market needs.
  • Monitoring the implementation of measures taken by the faculty administration to execute the strategic plan.
  •  Conducting periodic internal monitoring of achievement rates against performance indicators to ensure the fulfillment of the faculty strategic plan objectives, and preparing relevant periodic reports.
  •  Coordinating between the faculty Strategic Planning Unit and the University’s Central Strategic Planning Unit.
  •  Holding periodic meetings for the faculty Strategic Planning Unit and preparing the necessary meeting minutes.
  •  Preparing the Unit’s annual report
  • Any other tasks assigned to the Unit within the scope of its competencies.
