Awareness Seminar on First Aid within the “Beginning” Initiative for Building the Egyptian Individual
As part of the presidential initiative “A New Beginning for Building the Egyptian Individual,” launched by His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hassan Al-Noumani, President of Sohag University, and the supervision of Professor Dr. Hussein Taha Atta Salem, Dean of the Faculty, the Safety and Crisis Management Unit at the Faculty organized an awareness seminar on First Aid on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at 12:00 noon.
The seminar was attended by:
- Professor Dr. Hussein Taha Atta Salem, Dean of the Faculty,
- Professor Dr. Hiba Gaber, Director of the Safety and Crisis Management Unit at the Faculty,
- A group of faculty members, administrative staff, and students.
The seminar was presented by Dr. Safaa Mohammed Adam, a lecturer at the Faculty of Nursing, and included practical training on first aid techniques in various situations, including accidents, fractures, and handling injured individuals in emergencies and disasters. Topics covered included:
- First aid for critical situations like fainting, chronic illnesses, road accidents, and sports injuries.
- Assisting patients to maintain their condition and prevent deterioration.
- Instructions on calling an ambulance, assessing the patient based on gender, age, injury count, and responsiveness, as well as providing an accurate location description.
- Guidelines for dealing with patients until medical help arrives, ensuring safety, and offering necessary assistance.
The seminar also emphasized the importance of having a well-stocked first aid kit, including essential items like medical gauze, cotton, adhesive strips, compression bandages, alcohol, gloves, and other useful tools and medications.
