Activities of the Seminar on Standards for Writing Research Derived from Master’s and Doctoral Theses as Part of the “Bidaya” Initiative to Build the Egyptian Citizen
As part of the presidential initiative “A New Beginning for Building the Egyptian Citizen,” launched by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Hassan Al-Noumani, President of Sohag University, the Faculty of Education organized a seminar on Standards for Writing Research Derived from Master’s and Doctoral Theses.
The seminar was held with the supervision of Prof. Dr. Hussein Taha, Dean of the Faculty, and was opened by him, with Dr. Mohamed El-Sayed Ismail, Director of the Scientific Publishing Unit, presenting the event.
The seminar featured a lecture by Prof. Dr. Fathi Abdel Rahman El-Dabaa, Head of the Department of Mental Health. The topics covered in the seminar included:
- Definition of scientific research, its objectives, and types of researchers: traditional, talented, and genius.
- Definition of derived research and the differences between it and scientific theses.
- Objectives of derived research and its value for the researcher, the faculty, and the university.
- Steps to derive research from a thesis and the criteria governing this process.
- Common mistakes made by researchers when deriving research from their scientific theses, as well as the value of publishing in reputable journals with a high impact factor.
Attending the seminar were Prof. Dr. Emad Abdel Latif, Director of the Training Unit, a number of faculty members, and a large group of male and female researchers across various disciplines.
