The Department of Mental Health
Head’s Word
The Department of Mental Health is one of the main educational departments in the Faculty of Education – Sohag University, which participate in the educational and professional preparation of the student in addition to developing the psychological and counseling skills. It also grants the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Education, specializing in mental health, special education and psychological counseling. The department also holds training courses in psychological tests and counseling programs. The department includes a group of distinguished faculty members who contribute to the advancement of the department.
The Vision
The Department of Mental Health seeks to be distinguished, interested in the scientific and practical aspects in preparing the student and graduate student, interested in conducting psychological research, to provide psychological services to students and community members through the Psychological Counseling Center.
The Mission
Contribute to the preparation of teachers in various disciplines, and the development of knowledge and personal skills for both the student and the teacher, and providing training courses in mental health and psychological counseling for teachers in educational institutions, and providing psychological services for university students.
The Department of Mental Health, Faculty of Education, Sohag University aims to:
1- Preparing specialists in all educational and psychological fields.
2- Conducting scientific research to enrich knowledge on mental health issues.
3- Strengthening the links between the department and the community that contributes to the preparation of the good citizen.
4- Preparing specialized cadres in various fields of mental health through psychological research.
5- Raising the efficiency of the graduates of the College of Education through research and seminars related to mental health.
6- Conducting psychological research that contributes to solving behavioral problems at all ages.
